National Theatre (Free-Lance Scenic Artist September 2011)

Two weeks work in the Scenic Art Department at the National Theatre, Southbank, London.

Working on sets for One Man, Two Guvnors, The Veil and Collaborators.

 

T is for Tokophobia (Short Film 2011)

Ne’er Do Well Films, Written and directed by Evrim Ersoy

  • Art Director
  • Props and Set Dressing – acquire all props and dress set (minimal/sterile white bathroom).
  • Costume
  • Special Effects – create a system to mimic excessive bleeding.

 

Love in a Dangerous Time (short film 2011)

Ne’er Do Well Films, Written by Marcus Webb, Directed by John Webster

  • Art Director
  • Researched period (Theatre environment in occupied France 1943)
  • Costumes – Liaise with various costume suppliers for dresses and uniforms. Conducted choice of garments, fittings and hire.
  • Props and Set Dressing – Gathered, bought and made appropriate props to transform a modern London theatre dressing room into a star’s dressing room set in occupied France in 1943.
  • Continuity – sole responsibility for art department throughout shoot.

 

Prince of Beers (Short Film 2011)

Written and Directed by Stephen Fingleton.

  • Art Director
  • Set Dressing – Transformed the same domestic living room into both a beer shop and a German home.
  • Props – Improvised props due to minimal budget.

 

Shirin (Short Film 2011)

Written and Directed by Stephen Fingleton, Produced by Loreta Zajarskyte.

  •  Assistant Art Director

  •  Research – Kurdish domestic environment including furnishings and food.

  •  Set Dressing – Created a traditional Kurdish home in modern London domestic location.
  •  Props – improvised, bought and transported props.

  •  Transport – drove own van as well as hired van to collect and return lighting and camera equipment.

 

Love +1 (Short Film 2011)

Written by Andy Barnes, Directed by Giles Andrews, Produced by Uli Pflanz.

  • Art Director

  • Research – proposed ideas for colours and atmosphere of various different sets from cafe to bachelor’s bedroom and family kitchen.

  • Props – improvised, bought and transported props.

  • Set Dressing – redressed cafe location and created two distinctly different kitchens from one domestic location.

  • Special effects improvisation – created effect of food splashing out of food mixer.

 

Becoming Mum (2010)

Daisy Beck Productions

  • Series for E4 following celebrity Natalie Cassidy through her pregnancy. Filmed with Natalie though the process of commissioning and painting her Nursery Room Mural.

 

RADA – Short Course for Scenic Art in the Theatre (July 2010)

Intensive one week course exploring studio equipment and techniques such as wood graining, marbling, brick effects and using spray guns to translate a designer’s sketch into a full scale work of scenic art.
